Instate Rival Utah in SLC This Week

After going 1-1 on the road in MWC play this week, the BYU women's basketball team travels north to instate rival Utah for a Saturday afternoon match up. Tip off from the Huntsman Center is set for 4 p.m.

University of Utah

With just three games remaining in league play, the University of Utah is all alone in first place with a 10-1 conference record, 20-5 overall. Two Canadians top the leader board in scoring for Utah with Kim Smith averaging 15.8 points and a team high 7.5 rebounds per game. Shona Thorburn tallies 11.5 points and 5.6 boards a game. The Utes are shooting 45 percent form the field, 72 at the foul line and 40 percent from behind the arc. They average 65.7 points and allow opponents 53.2 points per game.

Last Meeting: The Cougars and Utes met earlier this year in Provo with the University of Utah getting the four-point 62-66 victory. When BYU plays at the Huntsman Center, they have a 7-34 record. The Cougars won there on January 26, 2002 in a 77-65 victory. Last year the Utes swept the league series, but BYU beat Utah in the conference tournament 70-59.
