PROVO -- Cougar Forward Erin Thorn was named to the Mountain West Conference 10th Anniversary Women's Basketball team, announced Oct. 13 by the MWC.
Thorn, a three-time All-MWC First Team selection, set numerous records during her stellar four-year career with the Cougars. She became BYU's fourth all-time leading scorer with 2,061 total points. She also hold the record in three-pointers made in a game with nine as well as the record holder in total three-point field goals made with 393.
A native of Orem, Utah, the Mountain View High School product picked up three All-America citations and MVP accolades in the 2002 MWC Championships. She finished her career with 29 straight games in which she made at least one three point shot.
Thorn was drafted in 2003 by the WNBA's New York Liberty. The fifth pick in the second rough (17th overall), she was the second player selected by the Liberty in the draft. Thorn was the first female basketball player from BYU drafted into the WNBA. Thorn is now in her fifth year with the team.
