The team's last top 25 ranking came during the 2002-03 year when the Cougars had tallied a 5-1 record before losing at George Washington who was ranked 22nd, on 12/11/02.

"This is a great honor for our team and the University," said head coach Jeff Judkins.

"The team has been working hard and playing very well right now. The key will be to continue to play well, win a conference championship, and be ranked at the end of the season."

BYU also finished ranked 17th after its first-ever Sweet Sixteen finish in 2001-02.

The Cougars have been receiving votes and were just three spots shy of the USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Div. 1 Top 25 Coaches Poll that comes out on Tuesday.

The 13-1, 3-0 BYU team, who also sport a 7-0 road record, continue MWC play this week, playing at Wyoming on Wed., Jan. 18 and host CSU on Jan.21.
