BOULDER CITY -- The BYU women's golf team sits tied for sixth place after one round at the UNLV Spring Invitational, with freshman Jade Bollinger leading the Cougars tied for ninth place at 1-under-par.
"Today was a little hit and miss," said BYU head coach Sue Nyhus. "But we're on the verge of playing great golf."
The UNLV Spring Invitational is an 18-team tournament including 96 competitors and is being held at the par-72 Boulder Creek Golf Club. The tournament tees are set at 6,204 yards.
Bollinger played solid throughout the day, as she birdied holes 15, 16, and 17. Sophomore Daphne Vines followed Bollinger, hitting an even par-72 in round one.
"We're looking forward to a good day tomorrow," said Nyhus.
The three-day tournament continues Tuesday, with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m. Tournament stats can be found at www.golfstat.com.
