PROVO, Utah (Sept, 25, 2007)-After two rounds of the NCAA Fall Preview, BYU is currently 14th out of the elite 18-school pool, scoring 23-over-par 304-303--607.

The Cougars entered into the second round in 14th place and held onto their position through the second round of action in New Mexico.

"We had a solid effort and are doing a lot of good things," BYU coach Sue Nyhus said. "I'm very proud of their patience with themselves and their game and am very pleased with their progress today."

After BYU's 17th-place NCAA Championship finish last season, the team was invited to the Fall Preview, which includes the teams that finished in 12th place or better and several of this year's top-ranked teams.

"We're doing what the best teams in the country are doing, and we're looking forward to a great day tomorrow," Nyhus said.

Senior Ashley Childers led the Cougars through the day with a 1-over-par 74. On the back nine, after starting on the 10th hole, Childers finished 1-over. On the front nine, a two birdies followed by two bogeys put her one-over-par for the day.

Juli Erekson and Natalie Jimenez followed behind Childers, both finishing 3-over on the day.

Three conference competitors were also invited to the tournament. New Mexico finished the day in eighth place, TCU finished 15th and UNLV finished 18th.
