Edwards Named as Scholar Athlete

The Mountain West Conference named BYU women's golfer Alexis Edwards as a scholar athlete.

Just a freshman, Edwards completed her first year of school with a 3.52 grade point average as an open major.

Edwards also contributed to the Cougar's success on the course this year. She played in 12 events, including the Mountain West Conference Championship and the NCAA West Regional. She accumulated a 78.6 stroke-average in her first season. Her best performances of the year came at the Dick McGuire Invitational, the Bobcat Desert Invitational and the Anteater Invitational, where she finished in the Top 25.

Edwards hopes to build off this year's success both on and off the course when school and golf start again this fall.
