LINCOLN -- After two rounds at the NCAA West Regional, the No. 27 BYU women's golf team sits in 12th place at 22-over-par.
Senior Juli Erekson had a phenomenal day of golf, as she shot an eagle on the second hole and birdied the third hole. She played consistently throughout the second round, and managed to fire two more birdies--one on hole number nine and the other on the 11th hole--which helped her advance to eighth place at even-par.
Junior Natalia Jimenez improved her score Friday as she advanced to 65th place overall. She shot a 2-over-par 74 in the second round, including one birdie on the back nine.
The 2008 NCAA West Regional is being held at the par-72 Lincoln Hills Golf Club, where tournament tees are set at 6,338 yards. The West Regional consists of 21 Division-I schools from various parts of the United States, including No. 2 Southern California, No. 4 Arizona State and No. 12 Arizona.
The top eight teams from the West Regional will advance to the NCAA Championships in Albuquerque, N.M. Southern California currently leads the tournament at 5-under-par, and Therese Koelbaek of UNLV leads the individual competition at 7-under-par.
The NCAA West Regional will conclude Saturday with tee times beginning in the morning.
