First Fall Tournament For Golf Team

PROVO, Utah (Sept. 7) ? The 16th ranked BYU women?s golf team competes in its first fall tournament of the year at the 2007 Ptarmigan/Ram Fall Classic, on Sept. 10-11 in Ft. Collins, Colo.

A total of 20 schools will compete on the Ptarmigan Country Club Course. The tournament is being hosted by Colorado State.

The teams will play 36 continuous holes on Monday after an 8:30 a.m., shotgun start. Tuesday?s final round will be 18 holes to begin at 8:30 a.m.

BYU, who finished last year?s campaign ranked fifth in the NCAA West Region and 17th in the final NCAA Polls, returns eight letterwinners including MWC All-Conference honorees Jill Erekson and Natalia Jimenez.

MWC Coach of the Year Sue Nyhus enters her eighth year at the helm of the women?s golf program at BYU. Last season?s 17th place finish was the second best in school history.

Other teams competing include Texas Tech, Baylor, Colorado, Fresno State, Cal, Wyoming and Weber State. The Cougars will field two teams in the tournament.
