Pair of Golfers Earn Academic Honors

Natalia Jimenez earns Academic All-American honors in her first season at BYU

NORMAN, Okla. - Nick Becker and Natalia Jimenez were named o the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar team.

Becker, from Boise Idaho, who majors in Recreation Management, was the Mountain West Conference Champion in 2005.

The GCAA All-America Scholars Committee announced the Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for Division I and II on Monday. In addition to these lists, 30 honorees were added to the previously-released Division III Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars.

On the mens side, Only juniors and seniors are eligible to be a Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar and must have at least a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average. In addition, golfers must have under a 76.0 stroke average for Division I, under 78.0 for Division II and under 79.0 for Division III.

Jimenez, a freshman from Bogota, Columbia, had her best finish at the Baja Invitational where she finished 19th.

To win the honor on the women's side, the student-athletes are required to have a cumulative GPA of 3.50 and have competed in at least 50 percent of the school's regulararly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
