PROVO -- Three members of the 2007-08 women's golf team received academic accolades by the Mountain West Conference.
Graduated seniors Ashley Childers and Julie Erekson along with sophomore Jade Bollinger were named MWC Academic All-Conference.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. Student-athletes must also be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
Bollinger, a sophomore from Wellington, Florida studying business management, currently maintains a 3.88 cumulative GPA. She competed in 10 of BYU's 11 tournaments and held an average stroke of 78.04.
Childers and Erekson recently completed their collegiate careers as significant contributors to the program.
Childers, of Menifee, California is a civil engineering major with a 3.08 cumulative GPA. She completed her senior year competing in all 11 tournaments and finished with a 77.33 stroke average. She hit a par-72 in three different tournaments this season and placed 11th as and individual performer at the Bronco Fall Invitational.
Erekson, a Chicopee, Massachusetts native, had a 3.15 GPA in early childhood education. She participated in every Cougar event this season and finished second on the team with a 75.85 stroke average. She came in first place at the BYU Dixie Classic shooting a season low of 68 in the second round and finishing the tournament at -1.
BYU led the MWC in the All-Conference selection as 148 student-athletes were named to the team. A total of 702 student-athletes from league schools were honored.
