PROVO -- The BYU gymnastics team will continue its 2007-08 season on the road Friday as the Cougars face in-state foe No. 17 Southern Utah University, as well as No. 18 Boise State and Cal State Fullerton. After the season-opening meet in New Hampshire the Cougars are making minor adjustments to face these competitive squads.

"We are just working on hitting our routines, perfecting them and increasing our intensity," said BYU head coach Brad Cattermole. "We will be facing teams that can do well. We just need to keep our focus."

This will be the first of three times BYU will face Southern Utah this season and one of two times facing Boise State. Last season the Cougars defeated both the Thunderbirds and the Broncos in all meets in which they competed. This is the first time BYU has faced Cal State Fullerton.

Though the BYU squad had a rocky season-opener last Saturday, posting a second-place 191.200 overall score, Cattermole is optimistic about the outcome of the second meet. He said he is confident in his team's ability.

Last week senior Kylee Draper-Marvin finished first in the uneven bars with a 9.825, and sophomore Megan Donehue followed in second with 9.775.

"Our entire squad didn't perform as well as we would have liked, but it was the first meet," Cattermole said. "We are going to take it, learn from it and move on."

With a few injuries affecting team line-ups, BYU hopes to get key gymnasts competing soon. Seniors Alethea Boon and Dayna Smart-Allen, though able to compete, are still coming back from injuries.

"Once we get some people back in the line-up entirely, which we will do soon, our scores will go up," Cattermole said. "We are holding out a little because we don't want to fight these injuries all season."

The meet will start at 7 p.m. MT in Cedar City, Utah. Both live stats and live video will be available. Live streaming will be available at at no cost. Users must have Windows Media Player. Live stats can be found through the following link: (under the gymnastics schedule page).
