PROVO -- Fans wishing to catch an early glimpse of the 2007 BYU gymnastics team will be able to do so Thursday when the Cougars hold an intra-squad meet at 2:30 p.m.
The event will be held in the team's practice facility located in room 149 in the southeast corner of the Smith Fieldhouse.
"This will give us a chance to introduce the girls to the fans," BYU coach Brad Cattermole said. "It is also a valuable opportunity to see how the girls handle being in front of judges in a meet-type atmosphere. This is the next best thing to an actual meet right now."
Gymnasts will compete on each of the four apparatuses in collegiate gymnastics - vault, uneven bars, balance beam and floor.
BYU returns an experienced core of competitors from last year's regionals-qualifying team, including seniors Kacie Capra Callens and Lisa Willis. Juniors Dayna Smart, Alethea Boon and Kylee Draper are also back. A host of talented newcomers, including three with international-competition experience, join the squad this season.
The Cougars open their season on Jan. 5 at the Cancun Classic in Cancun, Mexico, against Iowa State, Missouri and Auburn.
