Gymnasts Receive Academic Honors

PROVO -- Cougar gymnasts Hayley Jensen and Lisa Willis were named Mountain West Conference Scholar Athletes for 2006-07.

Jensen, a sophomore from Colorado Springs, Colo., has compiled a 3.98 GPA in Neuroscience. Willis, who is currently in graduate school, has compiled a 3.89 GPA in Mass Communications.

To be eligible for selection, MWC student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the member institution, while maintaining at least a 3.5 GPA. The student-athlete must also have been an active competitor for their athletic team.

In addition to Jensen and Willis, five other Cougar gymnasts were named scholar athletes by the BYU Student Athlete Academic Center. Included on that list were Kylee Draper, Melissa Pond, McKell Poulson, Kendra Stephenson and Dayna Smart.
