PROVO, UT (May, 20, 2004) After garnering Second Team All-America honors on floor at the 2004 NCAA Gymnastics Individual Championships in California, senior Kari Lords, has been named April's Deseret Book/BYU Female Athlete of the Month.
Lords was the lone BYU gymnast to compete at the 2004 nationals after tying for first place on bars (9.900) at the Central Regional.
The 4-11 all-arounder from Las Vegas, Nevada and Bonanza High School, led the Cougars during the year, scoring career highs in the all-around, on vault, and on bars. She finished the season ranked No.2 on beam (9.950), No. 11 on bars (9.925), No. 24 on floor (9.930) and No. 30 in the all-around (49.435).
Lords holds the top four BYU individual all-time record scores on beam, including the only perfect (10.0) on beam in Cougar history. She's also tied for the team's second highest individual score on floor (9.975).
