Lewis Leads Soccer Players Recognized for Academic Achievements

Provo, Utah (Feb. 22, 2001) -- Natalyn Lewis received her first All-American citation being named to the NSCAA Scholar Athlete Team, the first such honor for the BYU program.

Lewis and four teammates were also recognized by the NSCAA as All-Region Scholar Athletes. They were Athelia Graham, Sarah Higham, Kim Lowe and Staci Reynolds.

Lewis also led the BYU contingency with the Mountain West Conferences' Academic All-Conference honorees. Joining her on the MWC list were Athelia Graham, Sarah Higham, Janet Jensen, Kim Lowe, Staci Reynolds Jennifer Waldron. To be eligible for the conference honor, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.0 or better cumulative GPA, be a starter or significant contributor to the team.

The Cougar Club recently announced its list of Scholar Athletes where 12 soccer players were represented including seniors Lewis, Graham, Lowe and Reynolds. Other team members were Amber Anderson, Kristy Detton, Kylee Dickson, Sarah Higham, Britney Holman, Janet Jensen, Jennifer Waldron and Donna Werts. The Cougar Club requires its academic honorees to have a 3.2 or better cumulative GPA.

Senior defender Athelia Graham was one of six female student-athletes who was honored as a Lowe's Home Improvement Academic Salute recipient.
