Six Cougars Earn Season Awards

PROVO -- Six members of the 18th-ranked BYU women's soccer received season awards for their performances during the 2010 regular season campaign from the Mountain West Conference and the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Junior midfielder Lauren Anderson was named to the Academic All-Distric 8 Second Team. Anderson is a Business Management - Human Resources major with a 3.70 GPA who has started all 19 games thus far for the Cougars, netting three goals and tallying six assists with 21 shots.

The Mountain West Conference also announced their 2010 All-Conference First and Second Teams with five Cougars joining the list.

Sophomores Lindsi Lisonbee and Carlee Payne, and senior Kassidy Shumway were all named to the All-Conference First Team.

Forwards Payne and Shumway have recorded five and six goals, respectively, with a combined total of 74 shots. Defender Lisonbee has netted five goals this season and recorded 16 shots.

Junior McKinzie Olson and freshman Rachel Manning were named to the All-Conference Second Team.

Goalkeeper Olson has recorded 1,733 minutes in front of the net with seven shutouts, 63 saves and only 11 goals allowed. Olson is currently ranked 14th in the NCAA for her goals-against average. Manning has recorded six shots in her first year in Cougar blue with a starting spot in the midfield.

Lisonbee, Payne, Shumway and Olson all received All-Confernce honors for the second year in a row after starting all 19 games for the Cougars thus far this season. Manning has started 18 of 19 games in her first season at BYU.

The Cougars are currently in conference tournament action with a semifinal game on Thursday, Nov. 4 at 3 p.m. PT, in San Diego against either Wyoming or San Diego State.
