Keohohou Again Named to USA Top 25 Finalist List

PROVO -- Two-time First-team All-American Oli Keohohou, a junior, was named to as on of the 25 finalists for the 2003 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award for the second straight year. The award, which is considered the Heisman Trophy in women's collegiate softball, is given by the Amateur Softball Association, the National Governing Body of Softball in the United State.

Keohohou is one of only eight other finalists that return from the 2002 list, that includes players such as Natasha Watley and Keira Goerl of top-ranked UCLA. Keohohou was one of four finalists for the Honda Award as a freshman when she led the nation in batting average and slugging percentage.

Earlier this week, Keohohou was honored as the Mountain West Conference Player of the Week as she went 6-10 from the plate last week with four home runs and 10 runs scored to lead the Cougars to sweeps over Utah State and UNLV. She is currently batting .449 with a slugging percentage of 1.067 and 14 home runs.

The list will be reduced to ten payers on April 29 and three finalists will be announced May 13. The winner of the 2003 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year Award will be announced May 21 at the opening ceremonies of the NCAA College World Series in Oklahoma City, OK.
