PROVO -- BYU women's swimming will hit the road this week for the Big West Shootout meet in Irvine, Calif. on Friday and Saturday.
The meet starts at noon on Friday and at 10 a.m. on Saturday.
The Big West Shootout meet will have a unique format in that the four Big West teams will be in one pool, and the four invited teams will be in the other pool at the same time. The top two teams will swim against each other on the second day.
"It's going to be our second meet of the year," said women's head coach, Stan Crump. "I know we will swim a lot faster. Hopefully, we will just get better."
Women's swimming trailed close behind Utah in the season opener last Friday in Salt Lake City, with a final score of 148 to 140.
"We had some neat things happen at the meet against Utah,", said Coach Crump. "You could see that Utah was a little fresher than we were; they were a little bit more prepared to swim fast. We went there to have fun, and we didn't really lose by much. I am already looking forward to swimming against Utah again."
The next men and women's home meet will be Nov. 7 against UNLV in the Richards Building at 5 p.m.
