DAVIS, California– Two wins from Tiare Coker assisted the BYU women's swim and dive team in its outdoor loss at UC Davis, 172-128, on Friday afternoon.

“It was a well-fought meet by both teams,” BYU head coach John Brooks said. “Our women’s team really stepped up to the plate and won many events. We may not have won the meet, but I think our team knows that they performed well and to the best of their ability. I am proud of what they accomplished.”

Leading the team with two victories was freshman Coker. She improved her season-best time in the 100-meter butterfly, swimming it in 56.50 (56.59 was her time from last week). She also won the women’s 200-yard freestyle, posting a time of 1:52.18.

Winning the second event of the day was another Cougar freshman, Savannah DuPuis, clocking a time of 10:27.13 in the 1000-yard freestyle. She was closely followed by her teammate Vanessa Moffatt, who took second in the race (10:27.42). Moffatt, a junior from Lakewood, Washington, claimed a victory just four events later in the 200-yard butterfly. She improved her time from last week (2:07) to 2:05.63.

BYU's Anna Dahl was named “Swimmer of the Meet”  by her coaches and teammates for her performance in the 200-yard breaststroke. She finished the race in second with a time of 2:22.57. Dahl also competed in the 100-yard breaststroke and placed second with a time of 1:05.16.

Taylor took second in the 100-yard backstroke (57.07) and Spindler followed in third with a time of 57.81. In the 200-yard backstroke, Taylor once again took the second-place finish (2:04.59) and Spindler touched right after at 2:05.96.
