FRESNO -- The BYU women’s tennis team hit another tough loss on the road Thursday, falling 4-3 to No. 60 Fresno State.

The Bulldogs swept doubles play. Elizaveta Ezhova and Desiree Tran fell 8-4 to Melissa McQueen and Olga Kirpicheva on Court 2, followed by Abby Hayley and Laura Pola winning 8-4 against Cougars Elle Carney and Sandy, Utah's Aubrey Paul. The Bulldogs finished the sweep when Bianca Modoc and Marianne Jodoin defeated No. 78 Megan Price and Callie Craig on Court 1 (8-5).

Fresno State put up quick, straight-set wins on courts 1, 2 and 4 to clinch the victory, but Paul, Ezhova and Craig fought hard to give BYU (4-6) the last three points.

Paul pushed her season singles record to 9-1 after Kirpicheva retired from the match due to an injury. The match was split one set all (3-6, 6-2) and Paul led the final set 3-0.

Ezhova took down Modoc 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 on Court 5. After a long battle on Court 3, Callie Craig went to a tiebreaker against Hayley, taking the match 3-6, 6-3, (10-7).
