PROVO -- Several members of BYU's men's and women's track teams were named 2005 Scholar Athletes by the Student Athlete Academic Center. The men's team was represented by 43 Scholar Athletes while the women's team placed 52 athletes on the list.
Jason Dorais, Ben Gardner, Jacob Gustafsson, Josh McAdams, Robbie Pratt and David Pendergrass were also named All-Americans to go along with their Scholar Athlete status. Scholar Athletes Matthew Anderson, McAdams, Pendergrass, Robison Pratt, Nate Rencher and Whitney Neves all earned Mountain West Conference titles as well.
Amy Fowler was also named both All-American and Scholar Athlete for the women's team while Rena Chesser, Chelsea McKell and Kamila Rywelska all earned MWC titles along with Scholar Athlete awards.
SAAC Scholar Athletes were required to earn a GPA of 3.2 or higher within the 2005 calendar year while contributing significantly to his/her team. In all, 292 Cougar athletes were recognized.
