MWC Television Partners
In the fall of 2006, CBS College Sports Network and the MWC kicked off an unprecedented 14-year relationship to offer the most in-depth coverage ever centered around one Division I-A conference. The centerpiece of this historic relationship is the launch of The Mtn. (“The Mountain”)—Mountain West Sports Network, the first-ever sports network serving a collegiate athletic conference 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. On July 19, 2006, Comcast was named an equity partner in The Mtn.
The Mtn. delivers more access to MWC sports coverage than has ever been offered before and brings fans more coverage of the teams, rivalries and action of the MWC. In addition to live game coverage, fans get a comprehensive array of news, features and analysis about their favorite MWC teams and players. Together, CBS College Sports Network and The Mtn. will showcase the passion and pageantry of the Mountain West Conference while delivering unparalleled 24/7 coverage to fans across the nation.
CBS College Sports Network, part of CBS Corporation, connects more fans to more college sports than any other company and is now available to more than 65 million households across the nation. In addition, CBS College Sports Network (formerly CSTV) offers a variety of original programming and studio shows featuring expert analysis and in-depth coverage of the Mountain West Conference.
Another broadcast partner with the Mountain West Conference is VERSUS. Now in more than 73 million homes, the network is the national cable home of the National Hockey League (NHL) and the Stanley Cup Playoffs as well as best-in-class events like The Tour de France, the America’s Cup, the Professional Bull Riders (PBR), World Extreme Cage fighting (WEC), Professional Boxing, the Boston Marathon and Davis Cup. The network also offers collegiate sports from top conferences such as the Mountain West, Big 12 and Pac-10. VERSUS, a wholly owned company of Comcast Corporation, is distributed via cable systems and satellite operators throughout the United States.
DirecTV, the nation’s leading satellite television service provider, will launch the Mountain West Sports Network – The Mtn. on Aug. 27, 2008. Fans from across the country will now have the ultimate access to Mountain West Conference sports. The Mtn. will be available on channel 616 on DIRECTV CHOICE and above packages for the states servicing Mountain West Conference institutions (Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming and the designated market areas of Dallas/Fort Worth and San Diego). Customers throughout the remainder of the country will be able to access The Mtn. with a subscription to DIRECTV’s Sportspack.
CBS College Sports
In addition to national television coverage via the MWC television partners, BYU-TV will continue to broadcast women’s volleyball in 2008. Through BYU-TV, BYU athletics can be viewed in more than 40 million homes and locally on KBYU Channel 11. BYU-TV is available on the Dish Network, DirecTV and some cable stations. At least eight matches will also be broadcast on BYU Radio, available via satellite and over the Internet. For the third year, Jen Connery will be calling the action for BYU women’s volleyball.
In addition to the MWC sports programming broadcast on television, BYU’s home matches will be available online via CSTV.com’s broadband product All-Access. Links to this pay-per-view product can be found on the official BYU athletic website at www.byucougars.com. Some away matches may also be available.
BYU will provide live stats via GameTracker of all Cougar home matches via its website at www.byucougars.com/volleyball_w/. GameTracker provides constantly updating live stats, including individual performances and team totals. A play-by-play account allows fans to follow the match as it progresses.
