Cougars to Play Blue/White Match

Senior Bryn Porter and the Cougars will compete in a blue/white match on Tuesday in preparation for the 2008 season.

PROVO -- The No. 20 BYU women’s volleyball team will get a taste of competition on Tuesday as the Cougars compete in a blue/white match prior to the start of regular-season play on Friday.

Tuesday’s match will begin at 7 p.m. in the Smith Fieldhouse, and fans are encouraged to come watch the team and contribute to a match-like atmosphere. The Cougars will be divided into blue and white squads and will play five sets with the first four being played to 25 points and the last to 15.

“We are looking forward to initiating our season with a true match-like experience in the Smith Fieldhouse on Tuesday night,” said BYU head coach Shay Goulding. “We would love some fans to come out and to help make that happen. The girls have worked hard during fall camp and are very anxious to get going and to compete."

The team has been practicing since Aug. 8 in preparation for the 2008 season. BYU will host the Molten Classic this Friday and Saturday in the first week of competition, playing Utah State Friday at 7 p.m. before facing Tulane at 12 p.m. and Missouri at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
