LAWRENCE -- The No. 16 BYU women's volleyball team returned to its winning ways Friday afternoon with a sweep of Arkansas, 30-26, 30-17, 30-25, to move to 7-1 on the season. The win marked the Cougars' sixth sweep in eight matches this year.

"I'm proud of how our team responded," said BYU head coach Jason Watson, whose team lost its first match of the season Thursday night. "It was a quick turnaround for us against a good team. We faced some adversity and rebounded well. These experiences are valuable as we progress through the season. It's a confidence-builder to know that we can rally, face adversity and play well together."

Though BYU was without the services of its starting setter Amy Schlauder, who broke her finger Thursday night against Kansas, several Cougars responded with big matches to propel the team to the win. Junior outside hitter Chelsea Goodman paced BYU with a season-high 17 kills while recording her fourth double-double of the season with 18 digs. Junior rightside hitter Erica Lott also posted a double-double with 13 kills and 11 digs, the latter being a season-high. Two other Cougars reached double-digits in kills as seniors Lindsy Hartsock and Kim Wilson posted 12 and 10, respectively.

The number of the night, however, was 50 -- the number of assists recorded by setter Jenna Judkins in the first start of her career. The junior had played in just 12 matches in her career prior to facing the Razorbacks but averaged an astounding 16.7 assists per game while pacing BYU to a .331 hitting percentage.

"Jenna represents so much to our program," said Watson. "She works tirelessly and is as dedicated to her teammates as anyone. It's exciting to see her get a chance to play. She did an outstanding job of stepping up in a difficult situation."

Arkansas was led by senior leftside hitter Denitza Koleva with 11 kills and junior libero Ashley Miller with 17 digs. As a team, the Razorbacks hit just .160 and recorded seven team blocks to BYU's eight.

No. 16 BYU returns to Utah for a busy week coming up as the Cougars travel to Logan, Utah, to face in-state rival Utah State on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. and then open Mountain West Conference play hosting Air Force and Colorado State over the weekend. The Utah State match can be heard on BYU Radio while Saturday's contest against the Rams will be broadcast on BYU-TV.

"This has been a good trip for us," said Watson "We've learned how to deal with things, how to get on the road and take care of business. We feel like we're in a good place and are ready to move forward."
