PROVO -- Former BYU offensive lineman Lance Reynolds, Jr., has signed a free-agent contract with the Seattle Seahawks.
Recruited to BYU as a linebacker from Timpview High School in Provo, Reynolds moved to center during his sophomore season in 2003. The 6-foot-3, 293-pound center started the past two seasons for the Cougars. As a senior, Reynolds earned second-team All-Mountain West Conference honors, and was named the Cougars' top offensive lineman. He anchored an offensive line that provided pass protection for the nation's seventh-ranked offense, averaging 306.3 yards per game. Through the first 10 games of the season, Reynolds ranked second on the squad with 69.5 knock-downs. He recorded a season-high 16 knock-downs against Air Force in the Cougars' 62-41 victory over the Falcons.
Reynolds' father, Lance, Sr., has been an assistant coach at BYU for the past 23 seasons. Following his senior season at BYU, Reynolds, Sr., was drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 1978 NFL Draft. He also played for the Philadelphia Eagles.
Reynolds' father and younger brother, Dallas, both served Church missions in Seattle. Reynolds served his Church mission in Little Rock, Arkansas before attending BYU.
