PROVO, Utah — BYU conducted its third practice of fall camp Saturday on the SAB practice fields. See the photo gallery below to get a glimpse of the daily happenings through the lens and talents of the BYU Photo office as the Cougars prepare for the upcoming 2022 football season.

As Kalani Sitake prepares his team for its final season of Independence in 2022, the Cougars have received attention nationally for the strength of the program coming off of back-to-back top-20 seasons, including individual players earning recognition on preseason watch lists for numerous national awards.

Coach Sitake joined the Always College Football Show with Greg McElroy this week as camp was about to begin to talk about this year's team and schedule, and respond to other topics about his program, such as the benefits BYU has received being an Independent and joining the Big 12 Conference in 2023.

Following the interview, McElroy provided his in-depth analysis of BYU's journey as an Independent and the growth of the program under Sitake. The former Alabama star shared high praise for both Sitake's personal character and coaching acumen, saying "there is no denying (Sitake) is one of the best people in college football," and calling him "one of his favorite coaches in America. I've been outspoken about that for years."

"This is my guy," said McElroy of Sitake. "I would play for this guy. He is just a players coach through and through."

BYU was also the subject of a recent three-part series penned by longtime nationally respected sportswriter Berry Tramel for the Oklahoman on BYU's transition to the Big 12 next summer.
