This is only the second meeting between BYU and New Mexico State. The Cougars won the only matchup 42-7 in Provo last year.

The last time BYU played in the state of New Mexico, the Cougars won the New Mexico Bowl 52-24 over UTEP in 2010. The Cougars hold a 23-8-1 record in the Land of Enchantment.

BYU wide receiver Cody Hoffman has a caught a pass in 30 straight games, tied for the 10th longest streak in the nation. He has caught a pass in 36 of 37 career games. Hoffman has six 100-yard receiving games this year. New Mexico State’s Austin Franklin has caught a pass in 20 straight games.

Punter Riley Stephenson was just named one of 10 Ray Guy Award semifinalists, honoring the nation’s top punter. Stephenson is currently No. 2 in the nation with 47.1-yard average. The Aggies’ Cayle Chapman-Brown is No. 16 nationally with a 43.9 average.
FAMILIAR FACE
New Mexico State head coach DeWayne Walker spent one season at BYU as a secondary coach in 1994. He also coached against the Cougars four other times as a defensive coordinator at UCLA from 2006-2008 and at Utah State in 1993.
TOUGH DEFENSE
BYU’s defense has moved up to No. 3 in total yards allowed, giving up just 273.5 yards per game. The Aggies are currently ranked No. 103 in total offense, getting 341.8 yards on average.
TURKEY DAY WEEKENDS
The Cougars are playing the Aggies on a Thanksgiving weekend. BYU is 3-1 on games after the weekend of Turkey Day under head coach Bronco Mendenhall.
