OVERLAND PARK, Kan. – BYU senior forward Yoeli Childs has been named to the Senior CLASS Award All-America Second Team. The Senior CLASS Award winner and the All-America teams were announced Tuesday.

Childs, who was named a finalist for the Senior CLASS Award in early February, enjoyed a decorated senior season while leading BYU to a record of 24-8 and a final national ranking of No. 18/16. He was named to the All-West Coast Conference First Team and earned first-team all-district honors from the NABC and USBWA. Childs was also a Karl Malone Power Forward of the Year Award Top 5 Finalist and was ranked No. 20 among the top 50 players in college basketball by Sports Illustrated.

For the season, Childs averaged 22.2 points, 9.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists while shooting 57.4 percent from the field and 48.9 percent from 3-point range. He concludes his collegiate career at BYU as the school’s leader in rebounds, sixth in points and second in double-doubles.

The last Cougar to earn Senior CLASS Award honors was Tyler Haws, who also earned second-team status in 2014-15. Jimmer Fredette won the Senior CLASS Award in 2010-11.

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities. To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: classroom, community, character and competition.

Consensus First Team All-American guard Markus Howard from Marquette University has been selected as the 2019-20 Senior CLASS Award® winner in NCAA® Division I men’s basketball. The award, chosen by a nationwide vote of Division I men’s basketball coaches, national basketball media and fans, is given annually to the most outstanding senior student-athlete in Division I men’s basketball.
