BYU opens WCC Tournament on Friday against Loyola Marymount

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – BYU opens West Coast Conference tournament play on Friday, March 4, when the Cougars face Loyola Marymount at Orleans Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST.

Friday’s contest will be broadcast on BYUtv. It will also be broadcast live on BYU Sports Network and BYU Radio – Sirius XM 143/89.1 FM HD2 and KSL 102.7 FM/1160 AM.

BYU Notes (21-9, 9-6 West Coast Conference)

  • BYU ended the regular season with a 75-59 win over Pepperdine on Saturday where Fousseyni Traore recorded his seventh double-double of the season with a career-high 25 points and 19 rebounds.
  • Traore’s 19 rebounds set a new BYU freshman record program previously set back in on February 25, 2006 by Trent Plaisted.
  • Alex Barcello earned All-WCC First Team honors for the second straight season as the senior guard from Chandler, Ariz ranked third in the league in scoring at 17.0 points per game. He also ranks fourth nationally in 3-point percentage.

Loyola Marymount Notes (11-17, 3-12 West Coast Conference)

  • LMU advanced to the second round of the WCC tournament following a 86-6 victory over Pacific on Thursday evening.
  • Joe Quintana scored a career-high 31 points for the Lions as they won a WCC tournament game for the third straight season.
  • Eli Scott was the lone Lion to earn All-WCC honors as the senior picked up second team accolades as the fifth-year senior averaged 17.0 points, 6.4 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game during the regular season.
