Former BYU forward/center Trent Plaisted made his professional debut in Las Vegas, helping the Detroit Pistons defeat the Los Angeles Lakers 84-73 to open their NBA Summer League play.
Plaisted totaled 10 points and five rebounds as one of four Pistons to score in double figures. Plaisted's point production came efficiently on 4-of-5 accuracy from the floor and 2-for-2 shooting at the free-throw line. He was also commended for his defense by Pistons coach Michael Curry. Plaisted played 22:54 minutes off the bench to lead all reserves.
Second-year pro Rodney Stuckey out of Eastern Washington paced the Pistons with 21 points while fellow second-year player Aaron Afflalo out of UCLA added 15 in the victory.

In Detroit's second game in Las Vegas, Plaisted scored two points with four rebounds and one steal in 25:23 minutes as the Pistons defeated the Los Angeles Clippers 75-66.

In Detroit's third game in Las Vegas, Plaisted had one rebound and one assist while going 0-for-1 from the floor in 15:26 minutes as the Pistons lost for the first time, falling to Milwaukee 73-59.

In Detroit's fourth game in Las Vegas, Plaisted went 2-for-3 from the floor and converted his lone free free-throw attempt to score five points and grab one rebound in 12:45 of action. The Pistons lost 79-73 to the Dallas Mavericks.

In Detroit's final game in Las Vegas, the Pistons defeated Charlotte 78-67 to improve to their record to 3-2. Plaisted was one of four players coming off the bench, logging 15:28 minutes in what was for most of the game an eight-man rotation for the Pistons. Plaisted went 1-for-3 from both the floor and the free-throw line to score three points in the victory.
Over the five games, Plaisted averaged 18.4 minutes, 4.0 points and 2.2 rebounds while shooting 57.1 percent (8-of-14) from the field and 66.7 percent (4-of-6) from the free-throw line.
