Cougars have strong showing on day one of MPSF Indoor Track and Field Championships

SEATTLE – BYU track and field opened the MPSF Indoor Track and Field Championships with a strong showing on Friday at the Dempsey Indoor Track Arena.

Sierra Hansen tied for first in the pole vault with a mark of 4.20m. This earned her a new personal record and the No. 4 all-time BYU record.

The Cougars finished strong in the men's and women's 5000m with Connor McMillan finishing first with a new career best (13:46.71) and Laura Young-Bluth placing second with a time of 15:55.96.

Derek Sorensen earned himself a new personal best with his first-place finish in the 200m (21.53).

At the conclusion of day one, the BYU men’s team leads the championship with 34.50 points.
