PROVO, Utah—BYU men’s volleyball secured the No. 1 overall seed in the 2016 NCAA Men’s Volleyball Championships, receiving a bye into the semifinals.

BYU (26-3) will play the winner of fourth seed Long Beach State (24-7) and fifth seed Erskine (21-6) Thursday, May 5, at 6 p.m. EDT. The Cougars split the regular-season series with the 49ers. BYU has never before faced Erskine.

UCLA was given the No. 2 overall seed after going 25-6 and advancing to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation title match. The Bruins will face the winner of No. 3 seed Ohio State (28-2) and No. 6 seed George Mason (18-11) on Thursday, May 5, at 8 p.m. EDT. The Cougars have defeated UCLA three times this season, including in the MPSF Championship. BYU also beat George Mason earlier this year but has yet to play Ohio State.

The play-in matches will be held Tuesday, May 3, at 6 and 8 p.m. EDT. The semifinal matches will be streamed live on NCAA.com, with ESPN2 broadcasting the final match Saturday, May 7, at 8 p.m. EDT. Additionally, BYU Radio - Sirius XM 143 will broadcast the semifinal match (and final, should BYU advance). All matches will be played on Penn State's campus.

BYU (MPSF), Ohio State (MIVA), George Mason (EIVA) and Erskine (CC) all received automatic bids for winning their respective conference championships. UCLA and Long Beach State received the two at-large bids.
