Three Cougars garner All-MPSF honors

PROVO, Utah — The Mountain Pacific Sports Federation announced all-conference teams, featuring three Cougars, on Tuesday.

Senior outside hitter Davide Gardini was named to the All-MPSF First Team. Additionally, freshman outside hitter Miks Ramanis and freshman middle blocker Teon Taylor made the MPSF All-Freshman Team.

Gardini ranks No. 8 in the NCAA in kills per set (4.09), No. 11 in points per set (4.71), No. 14 in attacks per set (8.49) and No. 24 in hitting percentage (.341). Among the Cougars, he is the overall points leader, entering the postseason with 419. This is Gardini’s second All-MPSF First Team honor. 

Ramanis played in 90 sets, notching the second-highest kill count (274), points (307) and ace total (26) for BYU. He racked up 102 digs and 47 blocks in the regular season. 

Taylor participated in 58 sets and had 54 total blocks, the team’s second-highest tally. He added 31 kills and 62 points to his stat line.

BYU (8-16, 3-9 MPSF) is the No. 5 seed in the upcoming MPSF Men’s Volleyball Tournament. The Cougars will face No. 3 Pepperdine in the Pauley Pavilion on Wednesday, April 20 at 5 p.m. PST.
