SAN -- In extra innings, 1-0, win in San Diego, Angeline Quiocho hit a game-winning home run in the top of the ninth inning for the BYU women's softball team, completing the Cougars' sweep of No. 18 San Diego State.
Angeline Quiocho leads the team with 13 home runs on the season. She went 2-for-4 on the day with a single in the seventh inning.
Christina Gwyn-Trice recorded the win when she threw all nine innings. She gave up five single-base hits limited the Aztecs to no extra-base hits. Gwyn-Trice is now 12-5 with a 1.18 ERA. She battled against San Diego State pitcher Christina Ross who kept the Cougars to nine hits in nine innings.
With the win over the Aztecs the Cougars now sit atop the Mountain West Conference standings with a 6-2 conference record and a 29-14 overall record, while San Diego State now trails with a 3-3 conference record and is 30-13 overall.
