Four players head to Jack Kramer Tennis Invitational

Rolling Hills Estates, CA – Four members of the BYU women’s tennis team will travel to play in the Jack Kramer Tennis Invitational in Rolling Hills Estates, California held Nov. 3-6.

“This will be our first time playing in the Jack Kramer Tennis Invitational and it’s always exciting to play a new event,” BYU head coach Lauren Jones-Spencer said. “The girls are looking forward to playing some good matches against different competition. Our main goal is to go out there and play our best and improve every match.”

Representing the Cougars in both singles and doubles are seniors Mayci Jones, Savannah Ware, and Natella Nabieva and freshman Polina Malykh.

The Invitational will feature players from 20 different teams around the country. Participating schools include SMU, Oregon, UC Riverside, UC Irvine, Cornell, Cal State Fullerton, Northwestern, USC, UCLA, Pepperdine, South Carolina, Loyola Marymount, UC Santa Barbara, Washington, Fresno State, Georgetown, UTEP, and Baylor.

In the opening singles matches, Jones will face UC Santa Barbara’s Jaime Gilbertson while Ware will compete against UCLA’s Terri C. Flemming. Nabieva is matched up against UC Irvine’s Constance G. Branstine and Malykh faces Danielle Pham of Cal State Fullerton.

In the doubles draw, Jones and Malykh will face UC Irvine’s Cassidy Branstine and Stephanie Ngyuen while Ware and Nabieva take on Fresno State’s Olivia Noble and Juliane Treibe.

Matches will be played at the Jack Kramer Tennis Club. Doubles matches begin Thursday at 8 a.m. PDT with singles play starting at 9 a.m.
