Fisher ties for first in pole vault at Trojan Invite

LOS ANGELES – Rachel Fisher tied for first place in the pole vault Saturday at Loker Stadium to lead the women’s track team during the final day of the Trojan Invitational.

Fisher finished with a mark of 3.90 meters (12-09.50). Teammate Amy Moffat finished 11th with a mark of 3.45m (11-03.75).

During the 3000-meter steeplechase, three Cougars, Jennica Redd, Andrea Nelson Harrison and Maren Hanson Fassmann, finished in the top five. Redd finished second with a time of 10:40.77, Harrison placed fourth in 10:50.98 and Fassmann finished fifth in 11:05.99.

Rachel Stewart finished third in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:30.40 to lead the team. She was followed closely by Candace Eddy Carlisle and Lindsey Sowards Nielson who finished fifth and sixth with times of 4:32.07 and 4:32.72, respectively. Laura Young placed seventh in 4:32.81.

The final top performance of the day was Natalie Stewart's fourth-place finish in the 400 meters. She finished with a time of 53.65, an improvement on her time from last week (53.85). Her performance Saturday put her just .26 seconds from her personal best.

Nicole Rudd Bringhurst finished ninth with a time of 56.22, a personal best.

Next weekend, portions of the women’s team will head to three different events in Utah and California, the Cal Multi Event, the UVU Invitational and the Stanford Invitational.
