NEW ORLEANS - BYU women’s track and field and cross country received more offseason honors as the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named 13 athletes to its All-Academic team for the 2013-14 academic year.

The number of BYU athletes honored came in second place out of all women’s Division I track and field teams. It was also two more than last season’s 11 Cougar honorees.

The athletes recognized for academic achievement in order of their GPA were Kaylee Packham, Nicole Nielsen, Rachel Fisher, Allysa Hansen, Brenna Porter, Angela Shields, Elizabeth Wilson, Sarah Yingling, Andrea Nelson Harrison, Erin Murphy, Carrie Jube, Rachel Stewart and Lexi Eaton.

To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field team, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.25. They must have also finished the indoor season in the top 96 in an individual event, or participated in any round of the NCAA Division I championships during the outdoor season.

BYU also received honors for its cumulative team GPA being 3.04.
