PROVO -- The BYU women's volleyball team took care of business Friday night against San Diego state, winning in three games 30-25,31-29,30-23.

BYU came out on top in a hard-fought game one with San Diego State playing well. With some outstanding play from junior Kim Wilson and sophomore Lindsy Hartsock, the Cougars were able to pull ahead and stay ahead.

"We played well enough to win and we won in three, but it took a lot of work," BYU head coach Karen Lamb said. "San Diego State gave us a good fight."

The Cougars swept the Aztecs, marking the fourth consecutive opponent BYU has not allowed to win a single game. Game two turned out to be the most difficult for the Cougars.

With BYU ahead 11-9, the Aztecs went on an 8-0 scoring run. The run looked to be the difference-maker with the Aztecs leading 28-22 until the Cougars went on a 7-0 scoring run of their own to pull ahead by one. Wilson sealed the victory on her ninth kill of the night.

"I thought Kim had a great night," Lamb said. "It was nice to see her numbers up."

Wilson led the way with 13 kills hitting .387 on the night. Hartsock contributed 11 kills with an outstanding .647 hitting percentage and also six blocks. Junior Lauren Richards posted 35 assists sparking the offense with freshman Erica Lott and junior Lexi Brown both having 10 kills apiece to balance the Cougar attack.

The Cougars improved to 9-6 overall and 3-1 in conference play and will take on UNLV Saturday at 7 p.m. in the Smith Fieldhouse.
