Before BYU

Graduated with honors as a scholar-athlete at Punahou High where he was coached by Eric Kadooka ... 2005 Gatorade player of the year in Hawai`i ... was second team all-state as a junior and senior in leading his team to back-to-back state championships in 2004 and 2005 ... was a four-year starter and named second-team Interscholastic League of Honolulu as a freshman ... team was ranked No. 10 by USA Today and No. 30 by Baseball America ... batted .420 as a freshman and hit three homers as a senior ... lettered three years in basketball ... team won the 13-15 Babe Ruth World Series.

Selected Second Team All-Mountain West Conference ... named Mountain West Conference Scholar-Athlete and Academic All-MWC ... was also a Cougar Club Scholar Athlete ... was able to draw the lone walk from future Cy Young pitcher Tim Lincecum in a game at Washington.

2007 | Sophomore Year

Named to the Mountain West Conference All-Tournament Team, Second Team All-MWC and Academic All-Mountain West Conference ... ended the season with a current six-game hitting streak ... had a 10-game streak also ended at TCU ... hit four game-winning RBI: a two-run double in game two at UNLV, a double against Binghamton, a two-run single vs. UNLV game three and a two-out single in the 13th at San Diego State ... was on the receiving end of BYU's six double plays at UVSC which tied several teams for the second-best mark in NCAA history ... hit bookend doubles in the sixth inning against Binghamton, first double as a right-handeder and then as a left-handeder ... scored from first in the nine-run seventh inning in game three vs. UNLV in Provo ... dove into the stands to catch a foul ball down the first base line in game one at New Mexico.

2008 | Junior Year

Academic All-Mountain West Conference ... smashed a grand slam for a game-winning RBI to give BYU its first lead of an 11-7 victory at Washington ... also had a game-winning RBI against Air Force.

2009 | Senior Year

Academic All-Mountain West Conference ... was on the receiving end of a 5-4-3 triple play against New Mexico in Provo ... ranked among the NCAA's top 20 in walks averaged per game ... had three game-winning RBI: a single vs. Manhattan College 11-10, a single in the 18-12 victory at Western Carolina 18-12, and a sac fly in a 7-4 victory over Utah ... hit two homers in the opener at No. 10 Kansas State.
