- 90 all-time Olympians (69 Men, 21 Women)
- 126 all-time Olympic qualifiers (100 men, 26 women)
- Men's Track & Field leads all sports with 48 BYU qualifiers
- 27 all-time medalists (11 Team USA) in eight different sports
- 8 all-time individual medalists, most recently Frank Fredericks (1992, Namibia) with Silver in both 100 and 200m
- Christy Opara Thompson (1992, Nigeria) is, to-date, BYU's only women's track and field medalist, earning silver in the 4x100m Relay.
- 24 all-time competed in Summer Olympics concurrent with BYU career, Paris 2024 marks the seventh-straight Summer Games featuring at least one current BYU athlete.
- James Corrigan is BYU's first current athlete turned Team USA Olympian since Henry Marsh (steeplechase) and Richard George (javelin) at the 1976 Montreal Games.
- Corrigan, Marsh, George and Alma Richards (1912) make up the four all-time current BYU athletes to compete for Team USA.

- McGown served as a Team USA assistant coach in 2008 and 2004. McGown helped the Americans to a Gold Medal finish at the Beijing Games in 2008.
- McGown was at the helm of BYU women's volleyball 1990-2002, guiding the Cougars to national titles in 1999 and 2001.
