Before BYU

Prepped at Orem High where he lettered in baseball and basketball ... was defensive player of the year, two-time all-region ... was all-state and a 5A all-star ... coached by Terry Harward (BYU) ... recruited by Nebraska and Fresno State.


In 2000 he was Academic All-MSW ... suffered a shoulder separation in game at Utah which caused him to miss the final 11 games of the season ... was 8-12 in stolen bases, starting 36 of his 41 games in centerfield ... had a 10-game hitting streak mid-season ... 1999 he hit a grand slam at Southern Utah ... started 52 of 56 games for BYU in 1999 and batted .341, mostly as a lead-off hitter and was 8-13 in stolen bases ... led team with 76 hits ... turned a double play against TCU.
