Before BYU

At Layton High School he lettered in football, track and wrestling...wrestled heavyweight and played offensive and defensive track threw the shot put and discus.

1979 | Freshman Year

Was a varsity backup and saw jayvee action...against the Air Force jayvee he intercepted a pass on a rush and carried it 40 yards for a TD.

1980 | Sophomore Year

Part- time starter...was named coaches player of the game three times.

1981 | Junior Year

Was an alternating starter, playing both left and right tackle.
