BYU football is a great place to launch an NFL career. Over the past 31 years BYU has had 79 players taken in the NFL Draft, including 23 from 2000-2011. BYU also had has eight first-round draft picks.  Forty former Cougars have played or coached in the Super Bowl over the years. This year 16 former Cougars are on NFL rosters, which is one of the most by any college team in the West once again. BYU has had a player drafted in 16 of the past 18 NFL drafts and had five players sign free agent contracts (Matt Reynolds, Hebron Fangupo, Terence Brown, McKay Jacobson, Matt Putnam) in 2011.

  • Five Cougars signed rookie contracts to play in the NFL in 2011, including Matt Reynolds (Carolina Panthers), Hebron Fangupo (Houston Texans), Terence Brown (Miami Dolphins), McKay Jacobson (Philadelphia Eagles) and Matt Putnam (Green Bay Packers).
