BYU has finished in the top 5 each of the past ten years, including first-place finishes in 1999, 2001, and 2004. Thirty-nine players have earned All-Conference honors since the MPSF began in 1992.
Established in 1992, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) unites the Big West, PAC-10, Mountain West, Western Athletic and West Coast Conferences and other selected universities in the western United States, to provide championship competition for Division I intercollegiate Olympic sports in a conference setting.
The MPSF was originally formed to provide enhanced competition and championship opportunities for sports without conference affiliation; to contain the costs of competition; and to ensure the survival of sports impacted by Title IX and other fiscal pressures. In addition, the MPSF has also served as an incubator for emerging women's sports and as a safe harbor for sports impacted by conference realignments. For more information, see www.mpsports.org.
The Cougars have won three NCAA championships (1999, 2001, and 2004) and have finished with top-10 rankings in 17 of the past 18 years. BYU has also had at least one All-American player in 19 of the last 20 years, marking a stretch of 18-straight seasons.
Men's volleyball became a varsity sport at BYU in 1990. Carl McGown coached the Cougars from 1990 until 2002. Under his guidance, the team earned nine top-10 rankings and had at least one All-American every year except 1990. Tom Peterson replaced McGown in 2003 and has coached two successful seasons at BYU. In 2003 the Cougars finished second in the nation and in 2004 BYU captured its third NCAA National Championship in six years.
General admission tickets are available at the Smith Fieldhouse about one and a half hours prior to an event. Individual-game reserved tickets are sold, subject to availability, at the door prior to each home game for $6 each.

BYU Men's Volleyball matches are played at the Smith Fieldhouse, located on BYU's lower campus at 1050 North 150 East in Provo. Parking is available in the lots across from the practice fields (northwest of the Fieldhouse) and on the other side of the tennis courts to the south.
