PROVO, Utah — No. 7 BYU women’s cross country won the Autumn Classic as it opened its season at home on Friday.
The Cougars claimed the top-5 spots on the way to scoring a perfect, meet-winning 15 points.
The team was led by redshirt freshman Jenna Hutchins as she claimed the individual title and got the lean over teammate Carmen Alder. Hutchins and Alder finished in 17:26.2 and 17:26.3, respectively, as they broke away from the rest of the field with 200 meters to go.
Finishing in third was three-time cross country All-American Aubrey Frentheway in 17:33.6. Fellow All-American Lexy Halladay-Lowry finished just behind her in fourth with a time of 17:34.7. Rounding out the scorers was North Carolina transfer Carlee Hansen in 17:58.7

The Cougars will return to action in two weeks at the Bill Dellinger Invitational hosted by the University of Oregon. The women will run at 11 a.m. PDT at Pine Ridge Golf Club in Springfield, Oregon.
