Men’s basketball adds Marcus Adams Jr.

BYU head men’s basketball coach Mark Pope announced the signing of Marcus Adams Jr. on Saturday evening.

PROVO, Utah – BYU head men’s basketball coach Mark Pope announced the signing of Marcus Adams Jr. on Saturday evening.  

Adams Jr., a 6-foot-8 wing from Torrance, California, will join the Cougars as a transfer following initially signing with Kansas after reclassifying to the 2023 class. A former four-star recruit, he ranked 49th by 247sports.com.

He averaged 28.8 points, 6.8 rebounds and 5.0 assists per game in his final season at Nathaniel Narbonne High School for coach Kumase Demesma. He was named the John R. Wooden High School Player of the Year for the L.A. City Section Open Division after recording three 40-point performances, including a 50-point, 21-rebound game.

Adams Jr. is the third member of the 2023 recruiting class for the Cougars joining Aly Khalifa and Dawson Baker.
