Taylor named Big 12 Co-Coach of the Year

IRVING, Texas— BYU women's cross country head coach Diljeet Taylor was named the Big 12 Co-Coach of the Year Wednesday afternoon.

Taylor earns the award after coaching her team to BYU's first Big 12 conference title across all sports. Her squad scored 35 points to claim the team title as seven women finished in the top 15 earning All-Big 12 honors. The conference championship is her fifth-consecutive (2019-2022 WCC, 2023 Big 12).

On the national level, Taylor has led the program to eight-consecutive top-15 finishes at the NCAA championships and earned USTFCCCA National Coach of the Year during the 2020-21 season. Most notably, she coached her squad to a national championship in the 2020-21 season and Whittni Orton to an individual championship in 2021. 

Over the past eight seasons, Taylor has guided seven women to 16 All-America honors, including Aubrey Frentheway to her fourth consecutive top-40 finish at the NCAA national meet. 

Coach Taylor and the BYU women kick off the indoor track and field season in Boston at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener Saturday.
