PROVO, Utah Fresh off its Big 12 Championship, No. 3 BYU women's cross country  travels to Lubbock, Texas for the NCAA Mountain Regional race Friday morning.

 

Moving into the championship portion of the season, the Cougars have won all four of their races this season: the Autumn Classic, Bill Dellinger Invitaitonal, XC-23 Pre-Nationals and Big 12 Championships. BYU began the season ranked seventh in the USTFCCCA preseason poll but has since advanced to sixth and fourth prior to its current third-place spot.

In order to qualify for the NCAA National Championships in Earlysville, Virginia on Nov. 18, the team must place in the top two at the regional round. If they do not place in the top two, the NCAA DI Cross Country Subcommittee will then choose 13 teams at-large to round out the 31 team field at the championships.

The BYU women have qualifed for the past eight NCAA championships.

Ranked teams competing include No. 1 NAU, No. 3 BYU, No. 13 Colorado, No. 20 Utah, No. 22 Utah Valley and  No. 27 Colorado State.
