BYU falls 6-2 in game two at UC Davis

DAVIS, Calif. (Feb. 23) — BYU dropped game two of its three game series with UC Davis, 6-2, on Friday at Dobbins Stadium.

“We had plenty of chances to score tonight, but we weren’t very disciplined at the plate,” said BYU head coach Trent Pratt. “Good teams play the same for nine innings, whether they are leading or playing from behind. We need to do a better job of being consistent. We’ll make some adjustments and come ready to play tomorrow.”

Game Summary
BYU (2-4) opened the scoring in the top of the third inning with a Cooper Vest sacrifice fly that scored Parker Goff who had led off the inning with a walk. UC Davis (3-2) then evened the score at 1-1 in the bottom-half of the inning.

The Cougars scored again in the top of the fourth on a solo home run by Kuhio Aloy—his third of the season—for a 2-1 lead.

The Aggies responded with four runs in the bottom of the fourth on three hits, a walk, a hit batter and a BYU error to take a 5-2 lead. 

After three scoreless innings by both teams, UC Davis picked up an insurance run in the top of the eighth for a final score of 6-2. 

The third and final game of the series at UC Davis is scheduled for Saturday at Noon MDT and will be broadcast live on BYU Radio 107.9 and the BYU Radio App, with Dave McCann on the call.
