Jackson breaks her own school record at Air Force Diving Invitational

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Alexia Jackson led BYU diving with two event wins and a school record while competing at the Air Force Diving Invitational Feb. 1-3 at Cadet Natatorium.

Jackson saved her best for last as she broke her own school record with a score of 281.75 on the platform on Saturday. The sophomore from Mesa, Arizona won the event with a twenty-point advantage over runner-up Kayden Hayes of Arizona State. At 281.75, Jackson surpasses Markie Hopkins of Northwestern for ninth nationally in platform score. 

Jackson scored 300.40 on Friday to win the 3-meter over Wyoming’s Clare Knapton. Thursday’s 1-meter competition saw Jackson finish second at 274.30. 

Mickey Strauss took the top spots for the BYU men on both 3 and 1-meter dives. Strauss took third with 330.75 on the 3-meter and fourth on the 1-meter at 356.25. Chase Hindmarsh was BYU’s top finisher on the platform with 300.55 points in the fifth. Strauss was right behind Hindmarsh in sixth with 300.50.

BYU swim and dive hosts its final meet of the season with a Senior Day dual meet versus Utah Feb. 9-10 at the Richards Building Pool.
